Patty

I do have another rescue story I wanted to share from a few months ago, but something else came up and I wanted to write about it while it's fresh.

This past Saturday, we went down to the city and took the train, so we parked the car in a neighborhood near the station. As we were walking back to the car that night, we saw a brown and white tabby cat. He was a little nervous, but he warmed up to us and we spent some time petting him and checking him out. His ear was tipped and we could tell he was neutered. He didn't feel dirty, and he was a healthy weight. We decided to leave him there, since someone was obviously taking care of him.

After we got in the car and started to drive, I saw a tuxedo cat under a car, then another cat under the same car. My husband insisted on stopping so he could see what was going on. It turns out there were 3 kittens, 1 adolescent, and 2 adults all under that car. My husband used up the end of the treats he keeps in his bag, but none of the cats would come out. After about 20 minutes, he came back to the car. I had been watching another cat who was walking around the sidewalk, looking for food. I asked my husband to go see if she was still there. All he had to do was click and hold out his hand and she came running to him. He picked her up and we took her home.

She is incredibly thin, there is no fat on her body at all. One of her eyes is a little infected, and we've been trying to treat it. She had fleas. I'm glad we took her in, but there is a problem: we are only supposed to have our 3 cats in our apartment, no more than that. She is very very friendly and will follow us around like a puppy. I almost had a home lined up for her already, but it fell through. Now I'm scrambling to find a shelter or rescue group who will take her.
